3. History 3

At the start of 2006-07 a prestigious, yet ill-fated, pre-season friendly trip to The McCain Stadium to play Scarborough FC was played. The sight of the ground in a derelict state was a sign of what was to befall on the former Football League club. The club also around now engaged in a project for the future with the formation of an Under-19 side, to compete in the Windsor Food Services North Midlands Under-19's Football League. At the end of 2006, Richard Sennett called time on his tenure in the hot seat soon after the departure of his assistant Bradley.

Leaving the club managerless over the Christmas period the club looked within and Brian Gilbride was promoted through the ranks from Under-19's Assistant Manager to take the reigns for the time being. Brian was assisted by former 2nd Team Joint Manager Alan Jones, giving the team a home grown feel.

As 2007 started so did a new manager, former Nottingham Forest, Mansfield Town, Maltby Main, Parkgate and Garforth Town striker Ian Dring took over the reigns with Martin Barnfield as his assistant. Although they changed the mood in the camp and brought in new players they were unable to drag the team off the foot of the table.

As 2007 drew to a close both Ian and the Club felt that he should draw a line under his managerial hopes and offered his resignation.

The club once again looked within and appointed former manager and player Ian Wilson. With former Retford Utd player Rob Burton being his assistant. These two managed to turn a side that had won one game all year into a side that competed with the rest of the division and managed to avoid re-election.
