

Carribean Sports were the visitors to Oxford Street in the second round of the Rosehill Press Sheffield and Hallamshire Cup. An unknown quantity to the Main, the visitors turned up late to further the mystery of the opponents.
With Scott Spencer and Niall Doyle doing the reserves proud in the first team, Rhys Brailey wore the armband for the first time. James Batchelor was also missing.
Ryan Shelton started his first game of the season up top with Eric McMillan. Young Josh Bathgate started wide left and Tom Harte stepped into central midfield. The Main also welcomed the return of Dan Elcoat from injury.
The Main's defence were faultless in this win, Will Rowley, Jonathan Cook, Dean Jones and Daniel Green putting in excellent performances.
The first half was quite an even affair, both teams taking time to measure each other up. The closest either side came to scoring was a fantastic volley by Bathgate which was well saved by the visitors keeper. Dan Lodge went untroubled.
The second half was more open, and the Main took full advantage. A smart move down the right including Jones, ended with a Harte cross headed home by Dave McGee. (1-0 Ross).
The second goal came when 16 year old Bathgate knocked a superb pass into the path of Shelton, who quickly latched onto it and smartly finished past the onrushing keeper. (2-0 Ross).
Despite moving their best player from centre back to centre forward, Sports never came close to scoring, the Mains back line remaining organsied and concentrated.
