Following Tuesday night’s league cup defeat, Main shift their focus back to league action this Saturday as the Wrens visit Oxford Street.
Rossington remain only one point outside of the playoffs following last Saturday’s draw at Shirebrook and with the help of Selby Town, who also dropped two points after conceding in the dying stages in their game against Parkgate.
Rainworth are treading slightly dangerously near the bottom of the table as they find themselves only seven points above the bottom three and with the last relegation spot currently occupied by Swallownest, the Swalls have a chance to close this gap further with a game in hand.
Main were victorious last time they played in the league at Oxford Street meanwhile the Wrens were defeated in their most recent away match. Both teams have played 25 games in the league this season, but sixth place Main boast exactly double the number of points that seventeenth place Rainworth possess.
Team News
Tuesday night’s league cup match against Brigg Town saw Main rest numerous players to allow others to get minutes on the pitch. It was great to see Niall Doran back on the field and the gaffer remains hopeful that Doran can also be a part of the squad this weekend.
Rossington Main manager Ben Hunter said: “It was great to see Niall back for 25 minutes after being missing for so long so hopefully he reacts okay and can play a part against Rainworth.”

Pre-Match Press Conference
“Rainworth will be a very tough test and we will need to be right at it from the off to make sure we can get the all-important 3 points.”
“The lads have put themselves in a great position as a team to continue to challenge to get in the playoffs which would be a first for the club and a massive achievement.”
Last Time Out v Rainworth
Main took all the spoils in emphatic fashion last time the two sides back in mid-September. The Wrens had a short-lived double lead as a goal from Lucas Cotterill and a converted penalty from Curtis Williamson sent Rainworth two goals to the good inside the opening half-hour. Rossington proved that a two-goal lead can be heavily dangerous as they responded marvellously with goals from Gregory Young, Sam Kitchen and not to forget a heroic hattrick from Doran to register a comeback to remember at Kirklington Road.
