Rosso return home for the final game of the Northern Counties East League Premier 2024/25 season as they host the champions Silsden AFC in Doncaster.
Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League side for the first time in four seasons will end the campaign after the regular 38th game today. In the last three previous seasons, Rosso have had play-off football to content with albeit, the two seasons before last was in the below NCEL Division One. While mathematically the play-offs aren’t in Rossington’s reach today, Greg Young’s side will be hoping to round off a second season at Non-League step 5 against the title winners.
The Cobbydalers visit Doncaster having been crowned NCEL Premier champions two games ago following a 1-2 away victory at Pickering Town which at the time meant they had a seven-point cushion over Hallam in second place with just two games to go. While Matt Cavanagh’s side have the excitement of Non-League step 4 football next campaign, Silsden also have the excitement of an NCEL JCP Construction Cup semi-final on Tuesday away at Beverley Town who defeated Rosso in the quarterfinal.
With Rosso drawing away against Silsden back in mid-February after coming from two-goals behind, a victory this afternoon could see Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League side finish the season as high as 9th place presuming other results go our way around us.

Last Time Out v Silsden
Rosso surprised The Cobbydalers last time the two sides met for the rearranged fixture at The Regal Interiors Stadium in mid-February. Silsden thought it was usual service after a Jake Cassidy brace inside 32 minutes put the hosts in front however, a rapid Rosso response with a goal from each of Ross Hannah and Paul Sherburn six minutes later eventually saw the game finish 2-2 in front of 133 spectators.
