Two out of two under Greg Young as interim Rosso manager for Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League side who deliver another dominant performance at Oxford Street.
Cameron Hough broke the deadlock on a sunny Doncaster afternoon after just 12 minutes with a volley inside the area after a Mitch Langton assist which came as a result of spilled corner save from the visitors.
Five minutes before halftime and in a similar corner style to Rosso’s first goal, Manasse Kianga made it two with a first-class taken half-volley into the bottom right corner.
Rosso started the second half with similar intent of how the first ended as a quality piece of play by the hosts finished with a simple finish for Ross Hannah before Kianga marked his brace with a moment of individual brilliance early into the second 45 minutes. Pickering did pull one back on the 65 minute when Ben Silburn dinked it over into the far corner however, the damage was already done as Rosso ended up as the eventual winners.
The match between Rosso and the Pikes unfolded a minute early than normal and it took until the 12 minute before the first goal came when Hough took full advantage of a spilled Sam Taylor save after a Rosso corner. Born and bred Langton then flicked on the initial failed save before Hough put his laces through it and found the back of the net.
Moments after the restart Rosso had a near scare as Pickering played the ball into the box and of which looked to be heading out of play but soon hit the post and then the rebound also rattled the woodwork however, play ended with Rosso then clearing a Pikes corner.
Rosso then caused the Pickering back-line further problems as Kianga was almost clean through only for a brilliant sliding tackle from the visitors and then Lewis Graham went on a quality dribble down the right before narrowly missing the far corner with his low-driven attempt on goal.
As multiple home corners followed, Rosso looked likely to extend their advantage before halftime and they did just that through Kianga on the 40 minute. In a similar style to the first goal of the day, Cody Prior’s corner was then played back in by a stretching Brad Grayson before Rossington’s number nine on the half-volley gave Taylor no chances at the bottom right corner by zapping it home.
Rosso restarted the second 45 minutes in similar fashion to how the first half ended as on the 49 minute Rossington went three in front through Hannah. Grayson did so well in the build up to play Kainga down the right who cut inside, beating three Pickering men in the process before slotting it across to Hannah who delivered a robust finish at the back post.
Three minutes later, Rosso had a fourth as Kianga confirmed his brace in sensational style. Rosso’s number nine charged forwarded, cutting inside of two Pickering defenders before composedly tucking it into the bottom right corner.
After Rosso made two substitutions with Jack Harrison and Ashley Worsfold replacing Kenzie Dillon and Hannah, Pickering then pulled one back via a lobbed finish from Silburn off the substitute bench.
Worsfold found the back of the net on the 80 minute following an unselfish squared pass from Kianga however, the assistant referee raised his flag for offside and therefore the goal did not stand.
In front of the 163 spectators on a beautiful September’s afternoon in South Yorkshire, Young’s spell as interim manager continued with a 100% record as Rosso confirmed another 4-1 home victory and of course three more points in the Northern Counties East League Premier at Non-League step 5.
