The away fixtures continue to fall for Ben Hunter’s Rossington Main as Rosso travel to Sheffield this Tuesday evening to face Hallam.

Rossington make the midweek trip to Sandygate, the world’s oldest football ground off the back of heavy 5-2 away defeat to Garforth Town at the Bannister Prentice Stadium on Saturday. Rosso will need to try and stop The Countrymen’s current top goalscorer Kieren Watson who has impressively scored in all of Hallam’s last seven games.

The Countrymen were also defeated 2-1 away at Silsden AFC on Saturday but do sit strong in the Northern Counties East League Premier with 12 points from six games which sees Craig Denton’s men occupy the last play-off spot in the table.

Despite Hallam being crowned champions the season before last whereby Rosso were denied promotion in the NCEL Division One play-offs to the eventual play-off winners North Ferriby F.C. Rossington boast four wins and one draw in their last five meetings with The Countrymen since 2020.

Team News

Rossington welcomed back Liam King from injury at the weekend however, after making his return from off the bench in the second half, King was brought back off for injury shortly after. Therefore, it is uncertain if the trio of King, Jordan Buckham and Reiss Harrison will be ready in time to face Hallam. Long-term injured Matthew Wilson, Jamie Green and Niall Doran will certainly miss the trip to Sandygate on Tuesday evening.

The last time the two sides came together was just before the Christmas of 2021 in front of 272 spectators at Oxford Street. The campaign of which The Countrymen ended up being the title winners of the NCEL Division One, Hallam’s goal by Christopher Wood looked to be all-important until William Monteiro hit back at the death to clinch a draw for Rosso and split the points evenly.
