Rossington return home after a 132-mile-round-trip on Saturday where Ben Hunter’s side were defeated against Leicestershire based Ashby Ivanhoe in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary round.
Rossington’s return to Oxford Street falls again on a midweek evening fixture whereby the two Mains of the division go head-to-head in the Northern Counties East League Premier.
The Miners make the short trip to Doncaster having experienced a similar start to Rosso after their opening two games whereby the Rotherham based side managed by Lee Thompson have picked up only one point so far this season. Maltby also played in the FA Cup on Saturday as they were defeated to Carlton Town.
Interestingly for Rossington, after a Sheffield Hallamshire Senior Cup exit to Maltby last year and a defeat in pre-season to the Miners back in 2019. The last time Rossington beat Maltby was 14 years ago back in August 2009 when Lewis Hilton’s brace and Will McGhie’s goal helped Rosso to a 1-3 away win in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary round.
Team News
There is no further update on currently injured Matthew Wilson and Reiss Harrison while who will most likely miss the midweek match against the Miners. While Rosso were delighted to welcome back Cody Prior from injury, Jamie Green has unfortunately been added to the injury list as it is unconfirmed how long he will be out for after being forced off on Saturday at Ashby. Long-term injured Niall Doran will also continue to remain on the sidelines for this fixture.

Last Time Out v Maltby
Rossington were defeated by Maltby last time the two sides came together back in mid-November last year in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup second round. Sam Ackroyd sent the hosts in-front three minutes after the game commenced at Muglet Lane before Alister Haydock’s brace confirmed a 3-0 victory for the Miners in front of 118 spectators on a cold evening in Rotherham.
