Rosso are back at Oxford Street on Saturday as Main welcome Dearne & District for another NCEL Premier Division clash.
Rossington Main are looking to build on their ten-game unbeaten run in all competitions, extending back to 11th August, whilst Dearne currently occupy top spot after an impressive start to the season.
Main have done well to put their winless opening four games behind them to record five wins and five draws in the period that followed.
That record has seen Rosso progress to the Third Round of both the NCEL JCP Construction Cup and the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup, whilst remaining only four points off the play-off places despite sitting 13th after 11 games.
Main arrive into the matchup with the league’s early season pace setters off the back of a seven-day stretch that began with an agonising late draw with ten-man Handsworth, before heading north to Campion and securing a huge three points with a clean sheet to boot.
Dearne & District have collected 28 points from a possible 36 after securing nine victories and one draw in their opening 12.
The newly promoted side maintained the form that saw them pick up 110 points in the season they were crowned champions, taking a full complement of points in their first four and netting 19 times in the process.
Their only league defeats so far came during a run of three home games, where both Campion and Barton Town came away with maximum points and a 2-0 scoreline.
Ex-Rosso man Zeph Thomas has since led his team to victories over Parkgate, Thackley and Bottesford Town before a goalless draw at Retford United. A 5-1 thrashing of fellow newly promoted side Worsbrough Bridge followed in midweek.
Thomas is joined by a couple of familiar faces who are to set foot back at Oxford Street in the shape of Adam Baskerville and Jack Harrison. Meanwhile, Rosso’s Liam King is in line for a reunion with his former Dearne teammates.
Much of Dearne’s good form can be attributed to striker Jamie Austin who has remained prolific despite the step up in quality. Austin has added a further 13 goals to the 70 he produced in his first two seasons with the club where he became all-time leading goalscorer.
Although the two teams have not met in a competitive fixture, Dearne did play host to Rossington in last summer’s pre-season programme when Justin Circuit cancelled out Oliver Bowes’ strike to draw 1-1.
