Rossington Main welcome Knaresborough Town to Oxford Street as Doncaster’s highest-ranked non-league club go in search of their third consecutive league win.

Greg Young and Ben Hunter’s men will be looking to replicate the excellent win at Keighley Town from the weekend, where goals from Ollie Currie and Mack Warne sent Rosso three unbeaten in the league.

It’ll be hoped that the first half in West Yorkshire in particular was a sign of things to come, where an intense front-footed approach ought to have led to more than the two goals.

The return of Myron Gibbons from the bench will be a welcome boost, as the side looks in much better shape than it did just a couple of weeks ago.

Main now find themselves just two points off the play-off places in eighth after their uptick in form, one point ahead of the visitors.

Now in their eighth consecutive season in the NCEL Premier Division, Knaresborough have established themselves at the level in recent years, recording mid-table finishes in each of their last four campaigns.

Much of Town’s stability can be put down to the leadership of manager Simon Parkes, who enters his fifth full season in charge having initially taken the role on a caretaker basis in 2022 before being given the gig permanently ahead of 2022/23.

Knaresborough’s start to this campaign has suggested that they will be looking to take that next step and make a run at the top five, winning in all five of their previous encounters and progressing to the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

Rosso last met The Boro in the crucial double header that saw Main claim four points against Town within the space of two days to confirm their status at Step 5.

The first of the two ties saw Rosso overturn a two-goal deficit when Masai Arbouin’s memorable half-volley in stoppage time sparked rapturous scenes at Oxford Street as survival was effectively confirmed.

A couple days later and their place in the division was rubber-stamped in North Yorkshire thanks to a repeat of the goalscorers, Warne and Arbouin, in a 2-1 win to round off the league season.
