Following last Tuesday's postponement, Rosso visit the Home of Football Stadium for the first of two games this week against The World’s First Football Club with the quarterfinal of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup up first.
Greg Young’s Rossington Main suffered a 3-1 away defeat at Pickering Town on Saturday to keep us below the dreaded line in the Northern Counties East League Premier. Despite the setback, attentions turn to the County Cup as a walkover victory in round two against Wombwell Main, followed by an exhilarating 22-penalty shootout win over 14-time winners Frickley Athletic, meaning Rosso have the chance to reach the last four of the competition for the first time since 2022.
Five-time winners Sheffield FC, who suffered relegation from the Northern Premier League East division last season, are enjoying a strong league campaign and currently sit third after they claimed their fourth straight win on Saturday via a 7-1 home victory against bottom of the table Wombwell Town. The Clubbies thrashed South Elmsall United Services 0-5 in round two before comfortably beating Swallownest 2-0 on home soil in the previous round.
Both sides are plying their trade in the NCEL Premier this season at Non-League step 5. Just 16 places separate the two and just four months ago, their first competitive meeting in almost eight years ended with Sheffield FC claiming all three league points in a tense encounter. Expect nothing less on Tuesday night.

Last Time Out v Sheffield FC
In front of 341 spectators at the Home of Football Stadium and on a cold mid-September’s evening, the first competitive meeting between the Clubbies and Rosso ended in a defeat for Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League side. A brace from Sheffield’s Alex Hardwick sealed the three points for the host despite a second-half equaliser from Rosso’s Ross Hannah.
