Following the sad passing this week of our loyal supporter Mick, who followed Rosso home and away come rain or shine, Saturday’s home game will be held in his memory. We invite everyone to join us in a round of applause before kick-off to honour him.
Rossington Main are all set to host The World’s First Football Club at the Kalkut’s Community Stadium for the first competitive time in just over 16 years.
Prior to our midweek Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup quarter-final victory away at the Home of Football, Rosso endured a tricky run of results in the Northern Counties East League Premier to close out 2025. After multiple postponements at the start of the New Year, Rosso head into this fixture following an unfortunate defeat away at Pickering in the league last Saturday. Despite taking a first-half lead in a period where Rosso could easily have scored four or five, a familiar outcome unfolded as the Pikes fought back to claim victory.
With almost two decades of recent experience at Non-League step 4, the last time the Clubbies visited Rossington for a competitive fixture ended in a 0-7 Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup victory for Sheffield in early November 2009, with Ashley Longstaff scoring four of the seven goals. Fast forward 17 years and Vill Powell’s side are targeting an immediate return to the Northern Premier League East following relegation last season, arriving at Rosso in search of valuable NCEL Premier points. The Clubbies have four straights league wins under their belt following a 7-1 home demolition against Wombwell Town last weekend.
Following the departure of Rosso-born captain Mitch Langton earlier this month, Reece Fielding will wear the captain’s armband on home soil for the first time. Fielding, who only arrived from Sheffield in the summer, was handed the captaincy after Mitch’s exit and now leads the side against his former club. With further departures, including Will Sutton also leaving Rosso, two former Clubbies in Jonathan Hedge and Harry Mitchell join the likes of Cody Prior in having represented both sides and now wear Rosso colours. Both are expected to feature against their former club. On the flip side, a familiar face in Jordan Greaves is expected to be in goal for the visitors, having started the season at Rosso before making the switch to S18 at the end of November. Nathan Whitehead is also enjoying a strong season in defence for the visitors, having previously featured for Rosso across several spells under former manager Ben Hunter.

Last Time Out v Sheffield FC
In front of 213 spectators at the Home of Football Stadium on Tuesday evening, Rosso delivered a cup upset against the Clubbies as prior to Myron Gibbons' opener being cancelled out soon after by Connor Cutts.
