Rosso head to Dronfield to face The World’s First Football Club, Sheffield FC at the Home of Football Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Greg Young’s side will make the trip to The World’s First Football Club in attempt to turn those previous three consecutive 1-1 draws in the Northern Counties East League Premier into an all-important three points.
The Club who are currently managed by Vill Powell have made a good start to their first NCEL Premier season in 18 years following relegation from the Northern Premier League East last campaign. The World’s First Football Club gained promotion via a second-place finish back in 2006/07 and have since spent the previous 18 seasons at Non-League step 4 between both the Norther Premier League South and East.
In what will be a first competitive meeting between the two sides in almost eight years, with their last coming in a Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup first round tie in Sheffield, where the hosts defeated Rosso 4-1. This game promises to be an exciting one, with several players having represented both clubs. For Rossington, 100-club member Cody Prior is joined by Brandon Murillo and summer arrivals Jordan Greaves, Khalid Suleiman and Reece Fielding (the latter arriving from Sheffield FC), all of whom know what it’s like to be a Clubbie. On the other side, Sheffield FC’s Jim Pollard helped us to the NCEL Premier play-offs on our debut Step 5 campaign in 2023/24 as well as Nathan Whitehead having also featured in some important games for Rosso in recent years.

Last Time Out v Sheffield FC
Rosso’s last outing against The World’s First Football Club came in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic soon curtailed the regular season. In a pre-season friendly in Rosso, a Rossington Trialist who score a hat-trick was only enough to level a goal each from Sheffield’s Adam Chapman, Joel Purkiss and Nathan Nyamsi-Hendji which saw the match finish 3-3.
