Rosso travel to the City of Leeds on Saturday for the biggest game in the club’s 105-year history in the Northern Counties East League Premier play-off semi-final at the Bannister Prentice Stadium against Garforth Town.
Following Tuesday night’s NCEL JCP Construction Cup semi-final narrow defeat at home to the league champions Emley AFC. Ben Hunter’s Rossington Main finished the regular season fourth and in their Non-League step 5 debut after promotion through the play-offs last season, finishing in the top five confirmed a third straight year of play-off football for Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League side.
The Miners confirmed their third-place finish last week with a narrow one-goal victory away at Eccleshill United of which saw them end their last six NCEL Premier games with five wins and one draw heading into the play-offs. Although the four-team play-off feature from second to fifth was only put in place this year in the Non-League step 5 system, The Miners have finished in the league’s top four places in their last four campaigns.
With both sides having completed their regular 38 games, only one place separated fourth place Rossington and third place Garforth, hence why The Miners have the home advantage in the semi-final. Only three points was the difference in the end total of points however, Garforth hold the better head-to-head record in the pair’s previous meetings this season with Garforth being victorious on both occasions.

Last Time Out v Garforth
Rosso was defeated last time the two sides came together back in mid-February under the lights at Oxford Street. The Miners took a two-goal lead into the break following goals from Jordan Emery and a late one from Matthew Antcliff. Despite a Joe Parkin goal for Rossington after the break which looked to spark a Rosso comeback, the game would end 1-2 in the visitors’ favour in front of 172 spectators in Doncaster.
