Rosso return to action before the Northern Counties East League Premier play-off’s commence at the weekend as Ben Hunter’s side first face the league champions Emley AFC in the NCEL JCP Construction Cup semi-final at Oxford Street.

With two semi-finals this week for Hunter’s Blue Army, Rosso arrive into the league cup last four having beaten Retford 3-1 at home in the second round and then advanced on penalties after both a 1-1 draw in the third round at home against Pickering Town and more recently in the quarter final away at Handsworth.

The NCEL Premier champions Emley make the trip to Doncaster having confirmed their promotion to the Northern Premier League after a solid 2023/24 campaign. Richard Tracey’s side have had numerous cup runs away this year already as the Pewits made it to the third round qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup where they was narrowly defeated 1-0 away at National League North Alfreton Town. Emley was then two games away from reaching Wembley in the FA Vase as the Pewits lost in the quarter final away at Worcester City. Emley arrive in this semi-final after beating all of Garforth Town, Louth Town and Bottesford Town.

Rosso come into the semi-final following an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions which helped Rossington secure both a play-off semi-final and league cup semi-final against the Pewits. While Rossington play away on Saturday in the semi-final of the play-offs, with Emley’s season finished apart this cup competition, both Rosso and Emley have beaten each other away from home this season which sets up an exciting semi-final under the lights of Oxford Street on Tuesday.
