Rossington Main 2-2 Staveley Miners Welfare
The Main opened their pre-season programme against NCEL Premier Division favourites Staveley Miners Welfare.
During the first half Rosso more than matched their higher ranked opponents, and opened the scoring midway through the first half through a neat finish by Ally Churchill.
On the hour mark slack play in midfield led to a break from Staveley and a well taken equaliser, only for Rosso to regain the lead with 20 mins left on the clock, via Dan Green’s composed finish.
Just as it looked like the Main would hold out for the win, a fantastic 40 yard strike, with virtually the last kick of the game, gave Staveley a share of the spoils.
Despite the late disappointment there was much to be pleased with in the performance of the lads, who will go into the remainder of the pre-season programme with confidence after such a promising display.
Ally Churhill opened the score for Main before Staverley equalised before half time. Dan Green made it 2-1 to Main before Staveley scored a wonder goal with the last kick of the game which was watched by 160 people who were fully entertained.
