5-0 winners at Athersley

Rossington Main manager Ben Hunter after last nights 5-0 cup victory away at Athersley Rec.

“Obviously delighted with the result against a team in the league above. We asked for a response to what was probably the worst defensive performance I have been in charge of against Worsbrough and the lads reacted brilliantly.
We know we have goals in this team, but at any level we need to get the habits right and have a pride in defending to get us a foothold in any game.
As I said before, you don’t become a bad team overnight and the lads are buying in to the philosophy we are trying to bring and the consistency will come.
November is going to be a really tough month as we play all of the big teams in our league, with big budgets and big expectations, but I have every faith that if we get the habits right we will cause a few upsets.

Just want to also give a shout out to the fans that came back across to Barnsley for a midweek game again and was even better to see Ged and Burley almost crack a smile”.
