Rossington Main return home under the lights this Tuesday evening to host Goole who make the short trip over to Doncaster.
Rossington come into another re-arranged Northern Counties East League Premier fixture against the Vikings after bouncing back with a solid two-goal victory at Knaresborough Town on Saturday. After their nine-game unbeaten run came to an end last Tuesday, Rosso responded in the best possible way with a win away at Town to lift Ben Hunter’s side back into fourth in the table.
Goole set sail for Rossington having experienced two defeats on the bounce as in what was considered a six-pointer at the bottom end of the table, the Vikings relegation battle became that slight bit harder after being handed a 0-4 home defeat to Maltby Main at the weekend. In the match prior, Goole were beaten 5-0 against the league leaders Emley AFC and as a result the Vikings currently sit rock bottom of the NCEL Premier table.
The last time Rossington and the Vikings who recently spent 13 seasons at Non-League step 4 in the Northern Premier League Division One, completed a pair of fixtures in the same league was during the 1999/2000 NCEL Division One campaign when Goole did the league double over Rosso and went on to be crowned champions and achieve promotion into the NCEL Premier.

The points were shared last time the two sides met in the previous fixture in mid-August. Ross Hannah sent Rosso in front 25 minutes into the tie from the spot before Robert Guilfoyle scored what would be the equalising goal seven minutes later as the match finished 1-1 in front of 220 spectators at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds.
