The 2023/24 season is here and it’s an exciting one for Rossington Main who are ready to kickstart their Non-League step 5 campaign for the first time in the club’s history.
Rossington are all set to play their first ever game in the Northern Counties East League Premier at home against Barton Town following Ben Hunter’s side achieving promotion after winning the NCEL Division One play-offs last time out.
While Rosso are newcomers to life in the Premier, The Swans are experienced regulars having spent their last 12 seasons at this level following their second-place finish in the NCEL Division One back in 2011 which subsequently lead them to being promoted.
Despite being in different divisions, both sides come into the opening game having finished inside their respective league’s top tens in the last three seasons.
Team News
Rossington head into the opening game of the season with defender’s Matthew Wilson, Greg Young and Cameron Hough all most likely to miss Saturday’s game against The Swans due to injury. Long-term injured Niall Doran will also continue to remain on the sidelines.

Last Time Out v Barton
The last time the two sides met in a competitive fixture was back in November 2015 when The Swans were known as Barton Town Old Boys. Despite a late goal from Rosso’s Matthew Broadley, The Swans had already done enough to confirm a 2-1 home victory as Ashley Lattimore and Gareth Owen scored to send Barton through in the NCEL Cup.
