Rossington’s long awaited return into the oldest nation football competition in the world comes to an end this weekend as Rosso play in the FA Cup extra preliminary round at Oxford Street.

Following promotion last year which sent Rosso into Non-League step 5 for the first time in the club’s history, the agonizing 11-year wait for FA Cup football is over as Rossington host Leicester Nirvana in the competition’s very first round of 2023/24.

Based in Leicester, Nirvana currently pile their football also at Non-League step 5, being members of the United Counties League Premier Division South.

Both sides have started their respective season with points on the board after the opening two-games as despite a defeat to Barton Town on the opening day of the season, Rosso registered their first win at Non-League step 5 with a midweek victory over Pickering Town. Nirvana bettered this by a point with a midweek win against Rugby Borough and a draw to Easington Sports last weekend.

Team News

Rossington welcomed back Harry Sheppeard to the fold during the midweek triumph in North Yorkshire as well as Ross Hannah playing the full 90 minutes. Main however will most likely be without three central defenders Cameron Hough, Matthew Wilson and Greg Young once again. Cody Prior will also sit this one out while he completes his red-card suspension. Long-term injured Niall Doran will remain on the sidelines for this fixture.

Tickets for this fixture are available to be purchased on the gate at Oxford Street for both home and away supporters. Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. Limited parking is available inside the stadium but operates under a first come first serve basis. All visitors must refrain from parking on Oxford Street if the designated car park at the ground is at maximum capacity. Additional parking is available at the Miners Welfare car park or on West End Lane. The kick-off time for this game is 15:00.
