Rossington Main were defeated 3-0 on a warm Saturday afternoon in Northwich, bringing this season’s Emirates FA Cup journey to an early halt.
It was a lively start to proceedings with both teams applying early pressure from the off. Oli Nowak looked bright for Rosso on the left hand side, delivering a teasing cross after one minute.
The Greens responded immediately with an attack of their own, Mwaliteta testing Tom Wallace’s readiness from distance.
The Chester-based side then came again on 7 minutes, and despite a hint of offside, Lynn was played in on goal and the forward’s effort rattled the crossbar.
After withstanding the early Greens forays, Main came narrowly close to taking the lead when Scott Ruthven’s flick on unleashed Brad Grayson, whose shot across the face of goal ran just wide.
Then a mix-up between keeper’ and defence saw The ‘74 go ahead with Spinelli rolling home into an empty net.
Grayson delivered a couple of dangerous set-pieces, the first of which had the keeper’ scrambling when his corner, looked to be dipping directly into the net, but the stopper had his blushes spared by the bar.
Rosso’s number 11 then bent a free-kick towards the bottom corner, forcing Beddow to save low to his right after a strong challenge on Ollie Currie.
On the stroke of half-time, 1874 Northwich almost doubled their advantage through the tricky Mwaliteta, drifting in from the left to drive an attempt at Wallace’s near post, but the Rosso man had it covered.
And they did go onto double their advantage straight from the restart, Spinelli drilling home from close range.
Before too long, the hosts had added a third. This time Rossington caught out by some good play down the right, enabling Osborne’s cut back to be turned in by Lynn.
Rosso weren’t going to be beaten lying down though and created space down the left after some good one touch football, Nowak again driving play forward but his effort was blocked from within the six-yard box.
With players fatiguing in the heat, chances were few and far between in the last half hour and 1874 Northwich sealed their place in the next round.
